Beginner's Guide — Strength Training in Georgetown, Seattle

You don't need to know what a MetCon is. You don't need to have touched a barbell. You need a first class, a coach who meets you where you are, and a room that's glad you came. Here's exactly how that works at Root Strength.
Your First Class
Here's How It Goes.
Most people walk in for the first time knowing nothing about strength training. That's expected, and it's what our coaches are good at. Four steps from "thinking about it" to "I did it."
Sign up for the 2-week trial
$39.99, one-time, no commitment. It includes every strength class on the schedule, so you can try a few and find the ones you like. Sign up online in a couple of minutes.
Pick a Lifting Fundamentals class first
It runs seven times a week, mornings and evenings. This is the class built for learning the lifts properly — squat, hinge, press, pull — before adding weight. The full list is just below.
Show up a few minutes early and say you're new
Wear anything you can move in and flat-soled shoes if you have them; bring water. Tell the coach it's your first time. That one sentence changes how they run your session.
Let the coach set the load
Every workout scales. Same class as everyone else, your weight, your pace. Intentional class sizes mean you get real cues and corrections — the coach adjusts the session to you, not the other way round.
Where To Start
Beginner-Friendly Classes This Week.
Lifting Fundamentals is the easiest first class. Prehab / Rehab is the one to pick if you're coming back from an injury or worried about one. Every other class on the schedule scales too — these are simply the gentlest doors in.

Honest Answers
The Things People Worry About.
Will I be the only beginner?
No. Lifting Fundamentals runs seven times a week, and every class on the schedule is coached for all levels — first-timers and experienced lifters train in the same sessions. Most members started with little or no experience.
Will it be too hard for me?
Every workout scales. You do the same class as everyone else, at your weight and your pace, and the coach adjusts the load and the movements to where you are today. Nobody is handed a weight they're not ready for.
Will people judge me?
No experience needed, no judgement. The community is built on respect, accountability, and support — an independent gym where members show up for themselves and for each other. Everyone on the floor was new once.
What if I'm injured or coming back from one?
Say so, and the coach will modify. Prehab / Rehab is on the schedule twice a week, a strength rehab specialist from Root Physical Therapy coaches here, and physical therapy is on-site with most major insurance plans accepted.
What should I wear and bring?
Anything you can move in, flat-soled shoes if you have them, and water. Showers, lockers, and a sauna are on-site, so you can train before work or at lunch and clean up after.
Do I have to commit to a membership?
No. Start with the 2-week trial for $39.99 — one-time, no commitment, every strength class included. If you'd rather try a single class first, a drop-in is $30. Memberships start at $170/month, only if and when you want one.
How do I book my first class?
Sign up for the trial online, then pick a Lifting Fundamentals class from the schedule. If anything's unclear, email welcome@rootstrengthseattle.com or call (509) 596-0573 — a real person will help you.
